All the hard work finally paid off! Here are all of our excited volunteers on opening day of The Blessing. Eleven families were served in our newly renovated “outback” building, providing meals for 23 people our first weekend. What a great success!
Earlier this spring, the Tacoma Alliance Church board approved the re-purposing of our “outback” building behind the church. The building was previously used as a construction shack when volunteers first built the facility thirty years ago. Since then, it has been used as a Sunday school classroom, Bible Quizzing center, and for small group meetings. On April 28, the building was rededicated and the congregation rededicated themselves to reaching out to the greater community through this food bank.
As the idea for beginning a food ministry began to take shape, it was decided that a central logo might help people grasp the mission more visually. The idea behind the logo comes from our theme verse: Jeremiah 17:7.
This verse captures the goal we are striving for: to be a blessing to others through our own relationship with God. If we seek to know God and spend time with him, we will be blessed ourselves. It is then that we can seek to serve others through the love that is flowing out of us.
This logo captures the idea of a love that is overflowing from God, into us, and then out to the world.
